Inspired by the bold colors of the Impressionists, yet maintaining a naturalistic bend, Sara Broughton is drawn to the infinite variety of forms in nature, and especially has a passion for conveying the simple beauty and unique character of farm animals. Over the last fourteen years, Sara has been living in Harris County, outside of Columbus, Georgia and has found inspiration in the rural nature of the area. She especially enjoys painting “en plein air,” working directly on the spot, seeking out tranquil settings and farm animals, and immersing herself in the landscape, thus combining her love of being outdoors with art! The artist uses her plein air studies to bring fresh energy and a sense of atmosphere, and individuality, to her studio work. Ultimately, she endeavors to awaken a sense of wonder and delight in her work, to help the viewer to see anew. Her work has been shown at several local galleries, the Columbus Botanical Garden, and hangs in the Columbus Public Library, as well as private homes in Georgia, Maryland, and California. She currently resides in Cataula, Georgia with her husband and young daughter. She does accept commission work and can be contacted by email or phone.
