Susan Dolan hails from the Midwest but has lived most of her life in the South.  Educated at the Art Institute of Chicago and Drake University, Susan has spent her life active in all the arts, but her passion is in painting.  She believes that drawing from life is the best way to develop the necessary skills for painting and so she spends much of her time drawing and painting en Plein Air, enjoying the many wonderful places in the Chattahoochee Valley and all-around Georgia.  She loves to travel as well so many of her paintings are photo reference images inspired by her many trips to England, France, Croatia, Italy, and Korea.  

Susan primarily paints in oil but she also enjoys doing her “Watercolor/ Oil Pastels”.  The washes of the watercolors layered with the vibrant colors and textures of the oil pastels have made for some very exciting results, proving the oil and water CAN mix! 

Doing my art has been a calling for me…like a prayer.  For as long as I have been doing it, I know there is so much more to explore and learn.  I’m just getting started!
